The one shot that makes people stop scrolling.

Drones are how Bokeh Film Production started. Before the brand films and the recruiting videos, there was a Part 107 certificate, a camera drone and a lot of early mornings over Southeastern Wisconsin. Aerial work is still the part of the job we would do for free, which is why we are careful to do it well.

An aerial does something no ground camera can: it shows the whole thing at once. The size of the job site. The roof you just finished, from the angle the homeowner will never see. The property line, the parking lot, the lake behind the lot, the crowd at the outing. For a builder, a realtor, a roofer or a city, that one frame is the difference between describing the work and proving it.

We fly a DJI Mavic 3 in 4K, file for LAANC airspace authorization before every flight that needs one, carry drone liability insurance, and deliver footage and stills that are color graded and ready for your website, listing, proposal or social feed. Aerials can be added to any video shoot we do, or booked on their own.

From a client

“The drone videography gave our content a level of polish we hadn’t had before.”

Quoted from our Google Business Profile, from a contractor we filmed in Northeast Illinois.

“We hired Bokeh Film Production to film a full garage floor coating installation from start to finish, along with content introducing our owner. Josiah was fantastic to work with, his dedication to getting the shot right showed in every detail, and the drone videography gave our content a level of polish we hadn’t had before. We’ve seen a 3-4x increase in inquiries directly tied to the video content.”

Airspace, the honest version

Where we can fly, and how we find out before you pay

A lot of the Milwaukee area sits in somebody’s airspace. Oak Creek, Cudahy, St. Francis and the south side are under Mitchell International’s Class C. The northwest side and parts of Wauwatosa and Glendale touch Timmerman’s Class D. Down in Lake County it is Waukegan National and Chicago Executive. None of that means no aerials. It means the authorization has to be in place first.

For every address, we check the FAA’s facility map before we quote, request LAANC authorization when one is needed (approved the same day for most addresses), and tell you the altitude we will be working at. Night flights are part of what we do, with the lighting and training the FAA requires. A handful of places cannot be flown at all: inside stadium and event restrictions, over crowds, and a few sites right next to runways. We will tell you that on the first call rather than on the day.

On private property we fly with the owner’s permission every time, and we help you ask. On job sites we follow your safety rules and keep the aircraft away from the crew.

The pilot

Josiah, FAA Part 107 remote pilot

Bokeh’s owner flies every aerial job himself. Drones are what got him into this business, and the aerial work is still the part he would do on a day off.

  • FAA Part 107 certified, with current night operations training
  • Drone liability insurance, certificate of insurance available on request
  • DJI Mavic 3 with Remote ID, filming in 4K and shooting 20-megapixel stills
  • LAANC airspace authorization handled for every flight that needs it
  • Based in Wauwatosa, flying across Southeastern Wisconsin and Northern Illinois

We do not fly FPV or interior fly-throughs. For indoor walkthroughs we use a gimbal on the ground, which looks better anyway.

Questions people ask about drone work

How much does drone video or aerial photography cost in Milwaukee?

Added to a video shoot, $450. A stand-alone aerial session with 10 to 15 edited stills and 60 to 90 seconds of footage is $750. Progress visits after the first session are $350 each. Multiple locations and night flights are quoted on the call, faster turnaround is available when you need it, and every price includes airspace authorization and color grading.

Are you licensed and insured?

Yes. Our pilot holds an FAA Part 107 remote pilot certificate, and we carry drone liability insurance. If your company or your client needs a certificate of insurance before the flight, ask and we will send one.

Can you fly at my address?

Most addresses, yes, sometimes with an authorization first. Send us the address and we will check the FAA facility map and tell you before we quote. Addresses right next to Mitchell International, inside event restrictions, or over crowds are the exceptions, and we will say so up front.

What happens if the weather is bad?

We reschedule at no charge. Wind over about 25 miles per hour, rain, snow or low cloud all ground the aircraft, and we would rather come back than deliver gray footage. We watch the forecast and will usually call the day before.

Do you do night flights?

Yes. The night skyline, interchange and bridge images on this page were all flown after dark with the anti-collision lighting and training the FAA requires. Night work is quoted on the call because it often means a second visit at the right time.

Do you deliver raw files?

The edited stills and footage are the standard deliverable. Raw clips and unedited photo sets are available on request for an additional fee, which we will put in the scope if you want them.

Do you do FPV, interior fly-throughs or mapping?

No. We fly a standard camera drone outdoors for video and stills. For interior walkthroughs we film on the ground with a gimbal, which gives a smoother, better-looking result for most properties.

How much does it cost to get drone photos of my house?

A stand-alone aerial session is $750 and includes 10 to 15 edited high-resolution photos of the house and property plus a short video clip, usually delivered within a week and faster when a listing cannot wait. If you are already booking a video shoot with us, aerials are added for $450. Realtors who list regularly can ask about a per-listing rate.

Can you fly a drone over my property in Wisconsin?

Over your own property, almost always, as long as the airspace allows it. The FAA governs where and how high we fly; Wisconsin adds a privacy law that bars photographing people where they expect privacy, and some public land, including Milwaukee County parks, needs a permit. We handle all of it: we check the airspace for your address, get the authorization, and keep the camera on your property and your project, not the neighbors.

Do you fly in Lake County and Northern Illinois?

Yes, regularly. Lake Forest, Lake Bluff, Libertyville, Gurnee, Waukegan, Vernon Hills, Highland Park and the rest of Lake County are inside our standard service area with no travel charge, and we have flown construction progress in Elgin. Lake County airspace around Waukegan National and Chicago Executive needs authorization more often than Wisconsin does, which we handle before the shoot. See our Northern Illinois page for how we work on that side of the line.

How fast will I have the photos?

Standard turnaround is within a week for edited photos and video, and it is often sooner. If you need it faster, say so when you book: listing photos can be in your inbox in a day or two, and we plan the edit around your deadline rather than the other way around.

Need more than aerials?

The drone is where we started. It is not where we stopped.

Bokeh Film Production is a full video marketing company. Brand films, customer testimonials, recruiting videos, social content and monthly partnerships for contractors and business owners, with the aerials built into all of it.
